About Smokey

I've been around shisha longer than I'm willing to state precisely. Let's just say I was packing bowls before most people knew what a phunnel was. Over the years I've tested more heat management setups than I can count, broken in dozens of bowl types, and developed strong opinions about airflow, tobacco moisture levels, and why most people underpack dark leaf. I'm not a scientist. I'm a yeti who smokes a lot of shisha and pays very close attention to what works.

At ShishaX, I focus on the technical side of VOLTA. How the dual heating system distributes heat across the bowl, why certain temperature curves produce better flavor with specific tobaccos, and what actually changes when you remove coal from the equation. I've run more A/B sessions comparing coal versus VOLTA than anyone on the team, and I write about the results without sugarcoating them. If coal does something better, I'll say so. It just usually doesn't.

When I'm not testing setups or writing, I'm probably arguing about mint. Not whether mint is good. That's settled. But which mint, at what percentage, and whether it belongs in every mix or just most of them. I also maintain ShishaX's internal flavor pairing notes and session logs, which will eventually make their way onto this blog in some form. If you've read something on this site about temperature, flavor behavior, or why your session fell off after 40 minutes, it was probably me.
